Clark and Arlene Neher Graduate Fellowship for the Study of Southeast Asia
Deadline to Apply: Feb. 1
Endowed by Clark and Arlene Neher, this fellowship will pay $5,000 toward educational expenses in addition to a tuition waiver from the Graduate School. This award competition is open to U.S. and international students, and is granted without regard to citizenship, race, ethnicity, religion, age, gender or sexual orientation.
You must be a graduate student in good standing at NIU at an advanced stage in your program, either master's and/or doctoral, and be planning field and/or archival research in Southeast Asian studies. The fellowship may be used to support research-related expenses with funds obtained through the refund mechanism on Bursar accounts with zero balance. This award is routed through the Office of Student Financial Aid and applied directly to your Bursar's account. Recommenders may submit their Letters of Recommendation.

Dwight Y. King Graduate Fellowship for the Study of Indonesia
Deadline to Apply: Feb. 1
This scholarship, endowed by late Political Science Professor Emeritus Dwight King, awards $1,000 to international students pursuing advanced degrees involving substantial Indonesia research. You must be at an advanced state in your master's or doctoral program and a student in good standing at NIU. This award is granted without regard to citizenship, race, ethnicity, religion, age, gender or sexual orientation. This award is routed through the Office of Student Financial Aid and applied directly to your Bursar's account. Recommenders may submit their letters of recommendation online.

Annual Thai Studies Awards
Deadline to Apply: Feb. 1
Each year, the NIU Thai Studies Group awards NIU students and faculty a variety of grants to support Thai studies. The grants are available through a generous endowment from the Royal Thai government. There are three award categories as follows:
- Graduate students may apply for up to $2,500 for either Thai studies-related research projects in Thailand or conference presentations on Thai studies-related research.
- Undergraduate and graduate students currently studying first-year Thai language or beyond may apply for an award of $2,000 to support advanced Thai language study.
- Faculty associates from the CSEAS may apply for up to $2,500 for travel to Thailand for research on topics related to Thailand and Thai studies.
