Getting My OneCard
Before receiving your OneCard ID, you will need to accomplish the following (based on your classification with NIU):
-

New undergraduate students or employees: You must complete a new student or new employee orientation. The respective office will send you information about orientation dates. Generally, the final step of the orientation process brings students and employees to our office in groups to obtain their OneCard IDs.
- New graduate students: You must be registered for classes for the upcoming term and loaded in the OneCard's computer system. Please contact the OneCard Office for verification.
In order to make your ID, we will need information that you will receive on your orientation day (if applicable) as well as a valid photo ID. Forms of ID that are acceptable are the following: United States Driver's License, United States State ID, United States Military ID, Passport from any country in the world, or Consular Identification Card/Document (e.g. Matricula Consular Card).
Please stop by the OneCard Office during regular business hours.
- Students attending classes at a designated Off Campus Site (that have not had a previous OneCard ID and have no photo on file): Students that are not living in DeKalb or Sycamore and are not taking classes on the DeKalb, IL campus, but are enrolled at one of the designated NIU affiliated sites (Naperville, Hoffman Estates, NIU Rockford) may apply online for a “photo-less” NIU OneCard for Library usage.
