Huskies, you spoke, Campus Dining listened!
|
Fall semester, you will notice several positive changes to campus dining options that will benefit most Huskies.
Among the changes is an increase to the amount of Dining Dollars included in residential meal plans, extended hours of operation for several on-campus dining facilities and a new discount at Qdoba.
|
- Dining Dollars increase to $175 per semester, compared to $100 per semester last year.
- Neptune Dining will be open one hour later, closing at 8 p.m.
- Stevenson will now offer late night hours, from 8:30 to 11 p.m., Mon.-Thurs. (Coming soon.)
- East Side Cafe will be open for late night hours, from 9 to 11:30 p.m., Mon.-Thurs. (Coming soon.)
- Qdoba will offer a burrito bowl and drink for $9.99 available Mon.- Thurs. from 7 to 9 p.m.
|
With these changes, weekday meal exchange at Qdoba and the Grill at Huskie Den is being eliminated. Participation rates indicated that only 10% of students were taking advantage of meal exchange. However, it will still be available all day at Stevenson, Gilbert East Side Café and Depot C-store, and from 8 to 10:30 am at Einstein Bros. Bagels.

The Creative Projects Grant (CPG) supports a single arts project by an artist or organization. "In high school, your teachers tell you that college professors are stern and unforgiving. However, during my time at NIU, I have found it super easy to communicate with my professors. They are very flexible people, and I have even been given opportunities to further my education when speaking with them."

Get involved in as much as you can without it impacting your academic career. Getting involved in organizations on campushelped me develop my leadership and communication skills. It also gives you the chance to network with individuals who you may not normally be able to connect with. However, as I stated before, get involved within reason, meaning do not let your involvement impact your grades. You do not want to be a social success and an academic mess. I also highly recommend doing a study abroad program if you are able. This will open your mind to different cultural perspectives and broaden your mind toward what it means to be a student and the opportunities that you have that others may not.
