Robert Opperman

Bob has a varied background in banking, business ownership, and nonprofit service. His career began with 15 years in commercial banking working with small business owners and real estate investors. He then took a break from banking to launch and scale two businesses, one in the financial services sector and one providing office supplies and equipment. His last 10 years were spent at Midland States Bank which culminated in the role as Market President for northern Illinois.

In addition to his professional experience, Bob has served on the board of multiple nonprofit organizations. He currently serves with Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center, First Free Church and First Love International Ministries in a board capacity. Bob served as the interim CEO at First Love International for three months after the departure of its CEO, and has retained a role as part-time Chief Operating Officer to support the newly appointed CEO.

Bob and his family have lived in Rockford for the last 35 years, raising two children, and currently enjoying eight grandchildren. His education includes a bachelors degree in education from Iowa State University and an MBA from Northern Illinois University.
