Mary Kaull

Mary Kaull has more than 40 years' experience in communications, media, and strategic messaging. Most recently, she worked in strategic communications for the Rockford Public Schools, focusing on School Board communications and accountability. Her work included surveys, systemwide improvement and assessment for the district's Human Resources Department. Before her district tenure, she served for more than 20 years on the Rockford Register Star's Editorial Board. That role involved research, consensus-building, opinion writing, editing public submissions and managing community advisory boards for the newspaper.

Mary has lived in Rockford since 1988. She has a bachelor's degree in American studies from Knox College, a master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri, and a certificate in nonprofit management from NICNE. She volunteers with Rockford Promise, Sustain Rockford, and Nature at the Confluence in South Beloit. She has also been a member of nonprofit boards and a leader in her church.
