Research and Travel Grants

Faculty Associates

We competitively award up to $2000 each fiscal year to support faculty associates conducting research or presenting at a conference on a topic in the fields of Latino or Latin American Studies. Funds must be used to cover research or conference-related expenses, such as travel, lodging, registration and per diem. Original receipts must be presented for reimbursement and only those expenses incurred during the award period will be honored.

Application

  • Application materials will be reviewed by the CLLAS Advisory Council.
  • A completed application will include:
    • 1000-word proposal that explains the project as well as an itemized budget,
    • Travel itinerary
    • Current curriculum vita
  • If you are applying for support for conference travel, please indicate if your proposal has already been accepted.
  • If you are applying for support for research travel, please indicate if your proposed project has already been invited or accepted for publication or where you are seeking to publish the finished work.

The grant recipient is expected to share the results of their research or their conference paper with CLLAS by presenting at a Brown Bag talk open to faculty and students within a year of their award.

Graduate Students

CLLAS will competitively award up to $500 per fiscal year in Graduate Student Research and Conference Travel Grants. Awards will go to graduate students who meet at least one of the following criteria: the graduate student is conducting research or presenting at a conference on a topic in the fields of Latinx or Latin American Studies, or the graduate student is a teaching assistant or instructor of record of a course that meets the requirements for the Latino and Latin American Studies minor. The funds must be used to cover research or conference-related expenses, such as travel, lodging, registration and per diem. Original receipts must be presented for reimbursement and only those expenses incurred during the award period will be honored.

Travel Priority Deadline

The travel priority deadline for FY24 is April 5, 2024.

Applications accepted after Apr. 5 will be based on the availability of funds.
