Why Now? Northern Illinois University
We know you’ve got questions and concerns about starting college this fall. But the challenges we’re all facing now don’t have to delay your hopes and dreams for the future.
We want to answer your questions about what we’re doing so that you can make informed decisions about when and how to pursue your future goals.
We know it’s a tough time for many. Staff in our Financial Aid Office are ready to discuss your unique needs and ensure that you are receiving the maximum benefits of financial aid. If you choose to live at home while attending NIU, and if you consider all the awards and financial aid available if you qualify, you potentially could have all of your general costs covered and still be eligible for additional aid. That means your NIU experience could cost less than attending a community college.
At NIU, we’re working hard to create a college experience that will give you the ability to succeed in your studies, connect with your professors and make friends, all while prioritizing your health and wellbeing. We’re providing creative ways, both virtual and in-person, to keep you connected. You’ll take part in fun events like our Week of Welcome that includes outdoor paint parties, a virtual dance-off, virtual scavenger hunts and more. You’re part of our Huskie family, whether you’re on campus or off.
Our flexible teaching approach to course design — a mix of fully online, face-to-face and hybrid courses this fall — ensure that you get the high-quality instruction, the personal attention and the support you deserve online or in the classroom.
Now, more than ever, it’s time to stay the course with learning. At a time when full-time employment can be hard to find, you’ll have the connections of our world-class professors and career resources to give you a step up. Ultimately, starting on time will keep you on track to earn more and accomplish more.
It’s Not Too Late To Apply To Start This Fall.
