The Robert Marcelin Memorial Award is a $500 scholarship endowed by the former Ameritech Corporation to honor the life and memory of their co-worker and former Northern Illinois University student, Robert Marcelin.

The scholarship is awarded annually. The scholarship recipient's award goes towards defraying their account with the University unless no monies are owed. This is a merit-based scholarship. This scholarship is open to all students enrolled in the Latino and Latin American Studies minor.

The application deadline is Friday, January 30, 2026, and the recipient is announced in March.

Eligibility Criteria

You must meet the following requirements:

• Enrolled in the Latino and Latin American Studies minor
• 3.0 GPA or better
• Enrolled full-time at NIU
• Must be able to demonstrate progress toward degree completion

The scholarship is awarded annually. The scholarship recipient's award goes towards defraying their account with the university unless no monies are owed.
