Research and Travel Grants
Faculty Associates
We competitively award up to $2,000 each fiscal year to support faculty associates conducting research or presenting at a conference on topics in Latino or Latin American Studies. Funds must cover research or conference-related expenses, such as travel, lodging, registration, and per diem. Original receipts must be presented for reimbursement, and only expenses incurred during the award period will be honored.
Application
- The CLLAS Advisory Council will review application materials.
- A completed application will include:
- A 1,000-word proposal explaining the project, along with an itemized budget,
- Travel itinerary,
- Current curriculum vitae.
- If applying for conference travel support, please indicate if your proposal has already been accepted.
- If applying for research travel support, please indicate if your proposed project has been invited or accepted for publication, or where you seek to publish the finished work.
The grant recipient is expected to share the results of their research or conference paper with CLLAS by presenting at a Brown Bag talk open to faculty and students within a year of their award.
Graduate Students
CLLAS will competitively award up to $500 per fiscal year in Graduate Student Research and Conference Travel Grants. Awards will go to graduate students who meet at least one of the following criteria: conducting research or presenting at a conference on topics in Latinx or Latin American Studies, or serving as a teaching assistant or instructor of record for a course that meets the requirements for the Latino and Latin American Studies minor. Funds must cover research or conference-related expenses, such as travel, lodging, registration, and per diem. Original receipts must be presented for reimbursement, and only expenses incurred during the award period will be honored.

Travel Priority Deadline
The travel priority deadline for FY26 is April 5, 2025.
Applications accepted after April 5 will be based on the availability of funds.
