Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) statement for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (“the Department” hereafter) honors the experiences, perspectives, and unique identity of all members and affiliated students. Together, the Department strives to generate and maintain a working and learning environment that is inclusive, equitable, and welcoming. This includes building a community where diversity* is celebrated and valued. It is a core principle of the Department that diversity benefits and enriches the academic and career development of all our students, staff, and faculty. We as a Department acknowledge that:
- Diversity improves the performance of the Department in all respects by augmenting our talent pool and leveraging different perspectives and skillsets;
- Diversity awareness equips our faculty, staff and students to more fully engage the world, foresee challenges and deliver better solutions;
