What's Happening with the OSC?

Activities 

The Giving Project - Do you want to make gifts for people in need? These workshops are a way for NIU Huskies to give of ourselves for others.

The Giving Project

Workshops are scheduled for 9/29, 10/13, 10/27, 11/10 and 12/1 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Please see attached information sheet for materials to bring and other information.  If you don't want to make a gift, but you'd like to help, we could use assistance preparing project materials, post a flier in your work area, or donate bags, crochet hooks, knitting needles or acrylic yarn. Observatory Viewing - A reserved viewing at the NIU Observatory is being planned. Please check back on our website for details. 

More Activities Being Planned - NIU staff, faculty, and students are welcome to attend the activities, which are being planned based on your interests. Please let us know what interests you by taking the Activity Survey.

Pevonka–building services worker, NIU starting pitcher and trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange

Dave Pevonka, a building services worker at the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center (BAVC), has an interesting story to tell about his past. Some NIU faculty and staff may remember him from when he was an NIU student; he was a starting pitcher and a corporate fitness major from 1980-1983. He spent 17 years as a trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange prior to working at NIU.  More

Operating Staff Personnel Advisor

Congratulations John Hulseberg, who was elected as the Operating Staff Personnel Advisor (OSPA), a new resource for civil service employees at NIU. 


Who is the OSC?

The Operating Staff Council is here to represent all operating staff employees in the shared governance at NIU. Please feel free to contact any OSC member if you have questions or concerns.


OSC Meetings:

  • OSC meetings are open meetings and anyone may attend.
  • We will come to your area in the future. Email us if you would like us to come there!
  • Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m., usually in the Holmes Student Center, Sky Room.
