January Events:
Save-A-Pet
January 30
5 - 6 pm
HSC Capitol Room
Save-A-Pet (SAV) helps rescue military working dogs from being put down when their service to our country is done. SAV provides housing for disabled veterans in exchange for caring for the dogs. Mr. Danny Scheurer, accompanied by Retired Military Working Dog, Nero, from SAV will visit NIU and present on the hardship of placing these dogs due to their attack training, field experiences, or injuries suffered in the line of duty (including PTSD which afflicts many of our fellow human veterans).
February Events:
Etiquette Dinner
February 6
5 - 7 pm
HSC Ellingtons/Hunt Dining Room
Develop your skills on the proper etiquette of fine dining to prepare for future job interview dinners. Do you know what to do with your cellphone at the table? Do you know what topics to stay away from in conversation? Is it okay to eat as soon as you are served? How do you properly eat soup? What is the American style vs. the European "Continental" style? If these are questions you don't know the answers to, please join us for a full meal where we will learn the proper etiquette of fine dining.
Military Student Supporter Program
February 19
11:30am - 1pmHSC Capitol Room
A panel of military students will present to NIU's faculty and staff their unique military experiences and situations they have faced. The goal of the presentation is to promote a better understanding of the issues these students face as they transition from the military life to the life of a student.
