Emilio Avilés Casquet

I am from Almería, on the southern coast of Spain, in the region of Andalucía. I studied for my undergraduate degree in English at the University of Granada. In Spain, a bachelor's degree is a five-year degree and includes studies of subjects such as: Spanish language and literature, classical languages, philosophy and English. I spent my fifth year of college at the University of New Mexico as an exchange student. After completing my undergraduate degree, I did a one-year teacher certification program in Granada. After that, I moved to the USA, where I earned a master's degree in Spanish. I have been teaching at NIU since 2001.
