Building Your Professional Brand: An NIU Student and Alumni Collaborative Workshop

In this interactive workshop hosted by Career Services, NIU students will collaborate with alumni volunteers to learn the ins and outs of branding - how to identify the elements of their brand, how to put it into a professional introduction, and how to use it for networking and career success. By the end of the workshop students will be able to: Define branding and name the critical components; translate important life experiences to elements of their own professional brand; and identify ways to promote their brand on social media and other settings. Intersectionality Talks is an interactive program, facilitated by the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center, occurring on a monthly basis that highlights, explores and interrogates topics related to identity, intersectionality, advocacy and current events. Each monthly program is unique, centering a different topic and being delivered through a different modality. This month's program, in collaboration with the Asian American Resource Center, is a film viewing and discussion focusing on Domestic Violence Awareness Month within the AAPI community.

FALL FEST at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago!

International students are invited to visit the FREE Halloween-themed “Spooky Zoo” exhibit, which is part of Lincoln Park Zoo’s Fall Fest. An ISSS staff member will assist students in learning how to use public transportation, beginning with the #12 Huskie Bus to the Elburn Metra Station, to reach Chicago and points within the city. Attendees will also have freedom to explore the city on their own and may return to DeKalb with the ISSS staff member at the designated time or stay for longer if they wish.
