Operating staff have representatives on a variety of NIU Committees and Commissions. These representatives are appointed or nominated by the OSC based on interest forms submitted by campus operating staff employees. Read more about NIU Committees and Commissions

As part of the shared governance system at NIU, the Operating Staff Council has representatives on the University Council and University Advisory Council to the Board of Trustees.

At the state level NIU operating staff has representatives on the State University Civil Service System Employee Advisory Committee (EAC) and State University Retirement System Member Advisory Committees (SURSMAC).
