We have a new Assistant Director for Fall 2016, Linda Feiza! She will be in Watson 114 on Monday and Tuesday afternoons and can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures prepares students to become licensed teachers in French,German or Spanish (K-12). Students pursuing teacher licensure must have a strong academic record and demonstrate the desire and ability to facilitate learning.
Teacher licensure students major in French, German, or Spanish and take additional coursework which has been designed to meet the standards of the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). At NIU, teacher licensure students enjoy small classes, personal attention, and lots of hands-on teaching experience.
Interested students should contact the program director, Karen Lichtman (email@example.com / firstname.lastname@example.org, Watson Hall 112, 815-753-6443). For more information on the Foreign Language Teacher Licensure Program, please consult the following:

"NIU's foreign language teacher licensure program has provided me with all of the support I have needed and more to feel comfortable and confident about teaching and working with students. Not only are my professors and advisors knowledgeable about the subject of teaching foreign languages, but they are genuinely concerned with their students' success in the field."
