Chris Kurszewski

Chris Kurszewski has served as the master electrician to the School of Theatre and Dance since 2008. He earned his MFA in design and technology from Northern Illinois University in 2011. In addition to his position at NIU, Chris also serves as the head of automation for Vertigo, where he spends his summers working with performer flying winches. Prior to coming to NIU, he earned his BS in electronics engineering technology with a minor in theatre from Northern Michigan University. While attending NMU, he also worked as the master electrician for the theatre department where he also had the opportunity to complete various lighting and sound designs.

Some of his other theatrical experience includes work for Utah Musical Theatre (sound design), Maine State Musical Theatre (assistant technical director), and the Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council (lighting design and technical direction.)

Additionally, Chris spent eight years in the US Army Reserves, attaining the rank of sergeant and completing a tour in Iraq during OIF1.
