MFA Emphasis in Costume Design

The area of costume design focuses on the creative process in interpreting, through a visual, three dimensional medium, the production objectives of a given dramatic, musical or dance work.

Instruction in general and advanced design each semester is supplemented with work in theatre history, period styles, drawing and painting as well as advanced skills in costume technology including flat patterning, draping, millinery, accessories and fabric modification.

Opportunities for design and the practical application of craft techniques are provided both on and off campus in preparation for employment in the professional theatre.
