Narissa Haakmat

Scholarly Interests

My primary areas of research are incarceration, inequality, and family. I am particularly interested in the collateral consequences of incarceration on families and the ways individuals maintain relationships and a sense of self while under correctional control. My current research focuses on how detained and incarcerated mothers and fathers navigate and negotiate their identities amid the constraints of jail detention and incarceration.
