Parent Support

student and parent attend orientation

Parents are an integral part of all program activities. The Parent Advisory Group works closely with the program director to plan program activities and chaperon cultural enrichment activities and college visits. Staff meet with parents regularly to discuss their child's Individual Academic Plan (IAP) and program activities. Staff are available upon request to attend meetings with parents when speaking with teachers or counselors.

We also conduct workshops throughout the year for parents of sixth through tenth grade students not participating in a particular program to discuss topics which include:

  • Understanding the education system
  • The importance of attending parent teacher conferences
  • Course selection for college-bound students
  • Financial aid
  • Adolescent behavior
  • College tests and the transition from middle school to high school and the transition from high school to college
