We are a scholarly museum that supports research on its permanent collections. Scholars from all disciplines are welcome to study the Museum’s collections and associated records. Any reasonable and appropriate request for access will be considered. To assure the integrity and value of the collections for future generations, all requests are subject to established guidelines governing access, publication and other uses.
The availability of collections and their associated documentation is determined by our curator, in consultation with the museum director. Availability will be subject to condition of the materials, state and federal laws, university and museum policies, donor restrictions and considerations of cultural sensitivity.
Visitors need to submit a written application at least one month in advance of their visit to our museum curator. This request can be done by email, phone or sending a letter that describes the collection or objects to be studied and the nature of the research project being undertaken, the requested dates of access, and any special circumstances. Requests are subject to staff availability and workspace.
Note: university students must have a request verified by a faculty member.
