Course Catalogue Description

Geometrical, physical, quantum, and experimental optics with emphasis on topics of current interest. Three lectures plus a three-hour laboratory weekly.

Grading

PHYS 430:

Homework = 30 %, Labs = 30%, Midterm (week of 3/12/18)= 20 % Final (finals week) = 20 %. Both Midterm and Final exam will be closed book examinations.

PHYS 530

Homework = 20 %, Labs = 30%, Project = 10%, Midterm (week of 3/12/18)= 20 % Final (finals week) = 20 %. Both Midterm and Final exam will be closed book examinations. The following scales are use for the final (letter) grades:

A : > 90%

A-: > 85%

B+: > 80%

B : > 75%

B-: > 70%

C+: > 65%

C : > 60%

C-: > 55%

D : > 50%

F : < 50%
