Supplemental Instruction (SI)
Supplemental Instruction (SI) provides 100% remote group facilitated tutoring in historically difficult courses. SI provides academic support for students in the course section who want to learn effective learning strategies, understand course material and improve their grades. You do not have to sign up for an SI leader. SI leaders attend the targeted course with you to model and promote collaborative learning strategies and study skills.
Students who use SI frequently perform at a level of half to a full letter grade better than students who do not attend.
Our top priority at NIU is the health and well-being of our campus community. In response to the rapidly changing developments related to COVID-19, we have made the decision to adapt our services to a non-face-to-face format. It is our goal to ensure that there are no gaps in services. We will be monitoring email and voicemail throughout this period. If you have any questions or need additional information please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hours of Operation
SI begins on the first day of classes and will provide Blackboard Collaborate links once they are available for all support sessions.
