Policy Narrative
University Libraries has instruction, meeting, and study rooms NIU faculty, students and staff may reserve on a first come first served basis. Individuals are welcome to use unreserved group study rooms with the understanding that a group with a valid and confirmed reservation will take priority.
Reserving a Room
Library instruction has priority over other reservations in conference rooms and smart classrooms FO 202, FO 393, FO 293, and FO 297 during the months of September through October, and February through March. Reservations are only available for Founders Memorial Library scheduled hours of operation. Reservation requests must be made at least 48 hours in advance.
Reservation requests must be made via the Room Reservation system.
Reservations are NOT confirmed until a confirmation email is sent by the University Libraries to the requester. Barring unusual circumstances confirmations should be sent within two business days.
Reservation Cancellation
Cancellation of a reservation must be made via the Room Reservation system before the reservation time. Failure to cancel reservations in a timely manner may result in suspension of future room reservation privileges.

If a room is unlocked and unoccupied, it may be used without reservation. Reservation tags are located outside the door. Occupants are required to vacate the room when a scheduled group arrives. Please ask the Security Desk if you need assistance.

Food
Food is not permitted in FO 293 and FO 297. Water bottles with a pop top or a cap are permitted. The requester and the instructor will be held responsible for any damage to furniture and/or equipment in the smart classrooms. Food and drinks are permitted in FO 202, FO 393, and the study rooms.
Security
Security of personal items is the responsibility of the individual. Please do not leave personal items unattended.
Technology
To report a technology-related problem, please call the Libraries Technology Support Services team at 815-753-9452. If additional software is required in FO 293 or FO 297, you must deliver the item to the Technology Support Services Office (FO 97) two weeks in advance. It is the instructor’s responsibility to obtain the appropriate license or copyright approval to use software or copyrighted material in smart classrooms.
