With smart phones, laptops, social media, family, friends and jobs to distract them, many students have difficulty focusing in the classroom. We know, however, that students who are actively engaged in the classroom are likely to learn more and retain information longer. Because of this, it is important to incorporate activities for getting students fully engaged with course content. In this online workshop we discussed and practiced strategies to engage students which can be implemented in both large and small classes.
