The City of DeKalb project to convert the Lucinda Avenue and Normal Road intersection to a roundabout is on schedule after nearly six weeks of work. Most of the work to date has involved underground utility preparation. Crews are expected to begin work on curbs and gutters later this week.  The project is planned to be completed in August prior to students arriving and the beginning of classes. Tips from Fellow Huskies

Jesika Pabello

"One of the best ways to meet new people is to just go up to them. There are people I've noticed who are in almost all the same classes as me, so I go up to them and tell them just that. I tell them I've seen them in a couple of my classes and introduce myself. I also use Discord to meet new people. There's actually a Discord for computer science majors where you can talk with people in your classes or with other computer science students."

Jason Akst

"Easy advice to dispense, but harder to live: Try to have more fun. College is so expensive, and the world is so stressful, that one of the things that saddens me about our students (and I suspect this is true at many places, not just NIU) is that many of them don't seem to enjoy college anymore. They go to classes and do the work, but I don't see nearly as much joy as I used to."

Credit Score 101: How to build it and why it matters

Want to buy a car? Lease an apartment? Get a mortgage for a house one day? You’ve probably heard this before, but in order to take out a loan for any big purchase, you’ll need to have a good credit score attached to your name. We touched on this in our piece on understanding credit, but if you’re still confused, let’s elaborate some more.
