It is desirable to complete a summer internship while still in school. Students have the opportunity to work—for undergraduate credit—as an intern or in a department-approved co-op placement, either at an off-campus agency or for the department’s own Statistical Consulting Services.
Some of the key factors recommended in order to obtain an internship and/or a job in statistics are:
- Having a good GPA (3.0—3.4 considered; 3.5—4.0 preferred).
- Demonstrating communication and leadership skills.
