Join NIU’s AI Network! The NIU AI Network is a community of practice dedicated to exploring and advancing AI in ways that are ethical, equitable and aligned with our campus mission and values.  

The AI Network meets via Microsoft Teams from noon to 1 p.m. every other Wednesday. Session topics will be selected by the coordinating team which consists of faculty, staff and student representatives.

Jenny Kazelidis, Master of Accountancy (MAC)

Kazelidis currently works in the manufacturing industry in accounts receivable, where she supports daily financial operations and continues to grow her accounting skills. Her previous experience in project accounting within the construction industry inspired her to begin the MAC program in 2024. Before transitioning to accounting in 2020, she spent several years in the health care field as a recreational therapist. Making a career change helped her discover a path she truly enjoys.

Kazelidis is grateful for the flexibility of the MAC program, which has allowed her to balance full-time work with part-time coursework. She believes it is never too late to make a career change and values how her diverse experience has shaped her into a well-rounded professional. She looks forward to graduating this year and is excited for new opportunities ahead.

Speechify is a text-to-speech platform that helps you turn written course materials into high-quality audio. You can use Speechify to listen to textbooks, PDFs, discussion posts, emails, articles and web pages, making it much easier to keep up with reading-heavy courses.

By converting text into audio, Speechify allows you to study while commuting, exercising or completing everyday tasks, helping you make better use of your time.

Speechify is especially beneficial for improving focus and comprehension, reducing screen fatigue and supporting different learning preferences. You can customize your listening experience by choosing voice types and adjusting reading speed to match your comfort level.

It’s also a helpful accessibility tool for students with learning differences, attention challenges or visual strain. Speechify offers a flexible way to stay engaged with course content and manage academic workload more efficiently.

Asking for help is a strength, not a setback. Reaching out shows a growth mindset and helps you build meaningful connections with your instructor and our NIU Online Student Success Team. Be sure to check your NIU email regularly for tools and tips our office sends out to help you succeed. If you’re unsure where to start, send a quick message like, “I’ve reviewed the instructions, but I’m unclear on ______. Can you point me in the right direction?”
