Environmental Management Program

The final step in the planning process is to establish an environmental management program to achieve the targets decided in the previous step. This is essentially a project management step which involves deciding which tasks should be completed within the organization to achieve the targets, identify and assign suitable staff to complete those tasks, establish work schedule for those staff, and allocate the necessary resources for the tasks. The table below shows a sample matrix for documenting the action item for a target.

Objective/Target: Improve compliance with waste water discharge/0 permit violations within 3 months

For example, one of the targets could be to train 75% of the employees in the organization within a year on a new process or a waste disposal method, and this would require identifying the training program needed, assigning staff to develop the training program and train employees, and allocating the necessary resources to conduct the training programs.
