A Sample Environmental Policy (adapted from EPA’s website)

The Organization is committed to continual improvement of its Environmental Management System (EMS) and is in compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local environmental legislation and regulations.

The Organization will meet and strive to exceed all environmental requirements and will seek to prevent pollution. To sustain this commitment, the requirements of the EMS will be applied to all activities and employees.

The administrators of the organization have the responsibility and authority to plan, enforce, and maintain the organization’s EMS. This responsibility also includes stopping activities that deviate from the requirements of the EMS. The EMS Management representatives may delegate some of the authority downward through the organization in order to implement the system effectively.

The organization will continuously seek opportunities to improve its adherence to the principles of environmental management.
