Parking Permits on Sale Beginning July 15
|
|
|
Parking permits for the next academic year (2024-2025) are available online beginning July 15, 2024. Parking permits are virtual, so you will not receive a physical permit. Your license plate will act as your parking permit.
The Customer Parking Portal provides convenient access to your parking account information. You can view your account, purchase a parking permit, make a ticket payment, and update vehicle information.
A free parking option is also available. Those who take advantage of this option will have a virtual green permit, which allows for remote parking in Lot K on the west side of campus, just off Lincoln Highway.
For those only needing temporary parking, there are short-term parking options available. Short-term permits can be purchased online, and options include daily, weekly and monthly permits. Short term parking is also available at pay stations and via the AMP Park mobile app.
You can visit our website for additional information. If you have any questions, please contact Parking Services at 815-753-1045 or parking@niu.edu.

Walk2Run and Walk2Talk Programs begin July 17
|
|
|
Employee Well-being is happy to announce that beginning Wednesday, July 17, we will be coordinating our annual Walk2Run program. New this year, we are also adding a Walk2Talk option. Both programs are free to staff, faculty, family, students and the general community to provide opportunities to support each other, and collectively give time to our health and well-being.
Walk2Run is a guided, 10-week training program for beginning runners. The program gradually builds your physical and mental stamina and skills and prepares you to complete the annual DeKalb Corn Classic 10K/5K race taking place across DeKalb and the NIU campus Sunday, Sept. 29. Walk2Talk invites all to engage in a more casual and interactive experience which allows for a chance to move, talk and share experiences for overall well-being.
Coordinated by Employee Well-being and led by NIU’s own Greg Hulmes (ORED Operations) and Lise Schlosser (Center for Study of Women, Gender and Sexuality). Register for the event and sign the participation waiver.
We will meet each Wednesday for 10 weeks beginning 5 p.m., July 17, in front of the south entrance to the Chick Evans Field House. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at EmployeeWellbeing@niu.edu.

Fiscal Year 2024 Due Dates for Accounting Transactions
We are preparing to wrap up another fiscal year here at NIU and it is important that we finalize the university’s FY 2024 financial statements in a timely manner. Please ensure that all FY 2024 transactions for your department are properly classified and submitted to the Accounting Office by the deadlines listed below:
- July 15, 2024: All FY 2024 approved invoices, check requests and travel reimbursement requests due to Accounts Payable Services at AccountsPayableSrvs@niu.edu or Lowden Hall 208.
- July 15, 2024: Year-end cutoff for posting all journal activity occurring in June from all fund sources due to General Ledger at JournalEntries@niu.edu.
It is very important to note that transactions required to be processed in FY 2024 must be received by the requested due dates (do not hold FY 2024 documents even if the deadline has passed).
Please review all transactions and balances in applicable cost centers, paying particular attention to appropriate cut-off for transactions occurring during the months of June and July. Note that all goods and services received prior to June 30, 2024, must be recorded as an expenditure or accrued as a liability in the current fiscal year. Goods and services received after June 30, 2024, must be recorded as an expenditure in Fiscal Year 2025. University sales and services performed prior to June 30, 2024, must be recorded as revenue in the current fiscal year. University sales or services to be performed after June 30, 2024, must be recorded as revenue in FY 2025. If you have any questions concerning how transactions should be recorded, please contact an Accounting Office representative.
We appreciate your full cooperation as we work to ensure a successful close out of FY 2024. Should you have any questions about the year-end process, please email the Controller’s Office at ControllerOffice@niu.edu for assistance.
