Paint Your Place in Homecoming History
Meet in the OASIS Space after the Homecoming Kick-off on Monday, Oct. 5 to learn about a new campus mural inspired by NIU’s iconic Recycled Boat Race tradition. Designed by NIU alum Ryan Travis Christian and School of Art students Doug Overton and Drew Dzurko, the mural will be brought to life by the Huskie community. No artistic experience is needed, as everyone can contribute by painting a 12-by-12-inch section of the artwork. Painting begins during Homecoming Week and will continue throughout the semester, with additional community paint dates to be announced.

Undergraduate Admissions Hosting Mock Campus Visit Experience for Employees on Oct. 6
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions invites you to participate in a mock campus visit experience as part of our ongoing collaboration with campus partners. This is a great opportunity to see how we welcome prospective students and share the NIU experience.
Experience the visit firsthand
Ever wonder what the campus visit experience looks like from a prospective student’s perspective? This is your chance to experience it firsthand! You’ll hear the same presentation our visitors receive, walk the same tour route, and see how we introduce students and families to NIU. It’s also a great opportunity to learn more about how your area fits into the overall student experience and recruitment process.
Date: Tuesday, October 6, 2026 Time: 2 to 4 p.m. (The visit will last approximately two hours.) Location: Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center
The visit will begin with a 35-minute presentation from one of our Admissions Counselors, offering an overview of our admissions process, student life, and NIU’s academic colleges and majors.
Following the presentation, you’ll take part in a 85-minute walking tour led by a current NIU student. The tour includes stops at the Holmes Student Center, Altgeld Hall, and Neptune Hall, where you’ll see a sample residence hall room.
This mock visit mirrors what prospective and admitted undergraduate students experience when they come to campus. We hope you’ll join us and get a firsthand look at the experience we offer future Huskies.
