The Supportive Professional Staff Scholarship Fund was
established to provide scholarship support for children and grandchildren
(biological, adopted, foster, stepchild, legal guardianship) of Northern
Illinois University’s Supportive Professional Staff.
Students at NIU achieve amazing things, even though some
face tremendous financial obstacles.
This scholarship can help provide financial assistance for one of our
own dependents, while recognizing the talents and achievements of our deserving
students. The rising cost of higher
education, combined with the jeopardy that the employee dependent tuition
waiver is facing, has motivated the SPS Council to build a scholarship fund for
our dependents.
The SPS Council is launching a “Call for Donations” from
staff, annuitants, and friends of the university.
It is our goal to establish an endowment of
$25,000. If all SPS were to give just
$30 this year ($6 for 5 pay periods), we would surpass this goal in only one
year!
Donations will be kept in an expendable fund by the NIU
Foundation until our endowment goal is reached.
With your generosity, we hope to award our first scholarship from the
expendable fund for the 2013-2014 academic year.
We ask your assistance during this holiday season to make a
tax deductible gift today. May the joy
of giving warm your heart as we come together to build the first ever
Supportive Professional Staff scholarship fund.
