The science of psychology is a rapidly evolving field that influences all aspects of our society. Psychologists routinely find themselves working in both traditional and nontraditional settings including schools, hospitals, businesses, government, mental health organizations, laboratories, and nonprofit organizations. At NIU over 30 Ph.D. trained professors offer a wide array of courses that provide cutting edge instruction in the major areas of the field. Students may choose to focus their program or they may sample more broadly from among a wide variety of courses. Whichever approach they take, students graduate with a firm grasp of the field and a solid foundation to build upon.
