Things to Note:

Law School Budgeting:

  • Try out our interactive budget worksheet to help you organize and plan for savings to cover your expected law school costs and living expenses.  You should try to save at least 6-8 months of your current salary for living expenses.  Your savings should get you through at least the first month of each semester, while you wait for your student loan refund.

Residency Requirements

  • For the purposes of tuition, students are classified as residents or non-residents of the state of Illinois. To be considered a resident, an individual or an individual's parent or guardian must have been a bona fide resident of the state of Illinois for a period of at least 6 consecutive months immediately preceding the beginning of any term for which he or she registers at the university. To establish residency, specific documentation must be submitted to the Office of Registration and Records within 30 calendar days of the date designated on the official university calendar as the date regular classes begin.  Documentation and instructions on residency are available at the Office of Registration and Records.
