History Graduate Student Association

marach-2015hgsa1

The NIU History Graduate Student Association (HGSA) provides opportunities for professional development, fosters academic collaboration, and promotes the discipline of history in a supportive intellectual environment.

Each fall we host a national Graduate Student Conference, highlighted by a keynote from a distinguished historian. We are currently accepting proposals for the 2021 conference, which will take place on the NIU campus, Friday, April 9, 2021. This year's keynote address will be delivered by Professor Michael Vann of California State University, Sacramento. His talk is titled, "Memory Holes and Crocodile Holes: Representing and Silencing Cold War Era Mass Violence in Southeast Asian Museums."
