Faculty Mentoring

We want you to succeed in your NIU studies and in your career! You can always talk to our advising staff, but if you are an undergraduate history major, you will also be assigned to a faculty mentor. Your faculty mentor will help you think about your studies, whether that be next semester or beyond. You'll can also talk about career advice and planning. Beyond such practical matters, your mentor will also provide someone who will listen during good or bad times.

Peer Mentoring

In addition to faculty mentoring, we also have a limited number of peer mentors. These fellow students help each other, especially during your initial semester at NIU. If you would like to connect with a peer mentor, please request a peer mentor. If you would like to help out by becoming a peer mentor, you may apply to do so. Email your completed applications to Prof. Valerie Garver, director of undergraduate studies.
