Lorado Taft Field Campus

NIU's outdoor education and conference center is open year-round to groups of up to 160 people.  Our guest enjoy clean, climate controlled housing.  We are well known for excellent food service (including our famous cinnamon rolls!).  Breakout rooms and a variety of beautiful natural areas complete the experience!

A member of the Taft Campus staff will help you with the planning of the event prior to your arrival and serve as your host during you stay.  

The Taft Campus can be easily reached from Interstates 39, 88 and 90. We are located between the cities of Dixon and Rockford. We are 30 miles south of Rockford, 35 miles west of DeKalb, 75 miles north of Ottawa and 80 miles east of Galena.

Groups that have utilized the Taft Campus include:

• 4th through 8th grade classes for outdoor education
• Operation Snowball and other peer leadership retreats
• Scrapbooking and stamping group weekends
• University sponsored retreats
