SPS Council Recruitment

The Supportive Professional Staff Council (SPSC) is seeking nominations for Representatives and Alternates to the SPS Council.

Current members whose terms expire in 2025 (and others who have previously served) are eligible to run again.  Alternates whose term has not expired are eligible to run for a Representative seat. 

See your current Representatives and Alternates on the Council website: SPSC Council.  You, or an SPS colleague you know, can  contribute to the mission of this Council. Please consider participating in our nominating process. 

Make your nominations electronically by visiting the website. https://go.niu.edu/spscnominations  where you can login to the nomination ballot containing a list of employees in your division who are eligible for nomination.

Nominations may be submitted through May 9, 2025 at 5:30 p.m.

RIPS Open Forum: Evolving Federal Funding Landscape

In the last stretch of the semester, RIPS will hold a final open forum to share the latest information about the evolving federal funding landscape, including federal policy changes related to indirect costs. Sponsored Programs Administration, Monday Money Matters: Time and Effort.

Join Sponsored Programs Administration Monday, May 12, 2025, for the seventh and final session of virtual open houses to focus on various aspects of grant management. Presidential Commission seeking membership nominations.

The Office of the President invites nominations for individuals to serve on the Presidential Commissions. These commissions advise the President and foster innovation, inclusion, and problem-solving in support of NIU’s mission. Faculty, staff, and students with relevant interests or expertise are encouraged to apply to help advance an accessible and welcoming Huskie community.

To nominate someone or self-nominate, please complete the online application which seeks general information and a brief statement of interest by Friday, May 16, 2025. The Commission review panel will evaluate all nominations, and the nominees will receive an email notification of their acceptance by June 30, 2025. Financial Month End Close  

The month of April is closing for all financial reporting activity at noon Friday, May 9, 2025. Journals not posted at that time will go into May business. Submit April journals before end of business Thursday, May 8, 2025. Final April reports are scheduled to be available Monday May 12, 2025. In addition, May reports are scheduled to be available Tuesday, May 13, 2025. These and other important dates can be found on the Controller's Office website.
