Summer Service Opportunities That Need Your Support

Our Huskie Food Pantry and Huskie Closet spend much of the fall and spring semesters focused on providing food and clothing to NIU students in need. With many students off campus during the summer, it is the ideal time to accomplish necessary tasks like deep cleaning and organizing, and they need your help. Please consider signing up for one of the two important ways to help support their operations this summer:

June 11: Alumni Day at the Huskie Closet
Help clean, organize and be hands-on as the Huskie Closet prepares for the fall semester. Shifts run from noon to 2 p.m., and 5 to 7 p.m.

June 25: Huskie Food Pantry Prep Day
Help deep clean the pantry and participate in training videos for future pantry volunteers. Shifts are from 9 to 11 a.m., and 3 to 5 p.m.

Email volunteer@niu.edu for more information, or to reserve your spot for either activity.

NIU employees can use their Huskies Give Back (Volunteer Leave) time to support the pantry/closet, and our students, during a time when support is sorely needed. More information about our Huskies Give Back program, which allows employees to volunteer during regular working hours, can be found on the human resources site.
