RIPS AVP candidate open forum scheduled.

Join us for an open forum with Candidate 3 for the Associate of Vice President for Research and Innovation Partnerships.  The open forum will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 7 from 10 to 11 a.m. in Altgeld Hall, room 225.  Participants can also join via Microsoft Teams.

 

On-campus traffic and parking to be impacted by boiler delivery and installation.

The West Heating Plant will be receiving and installing new boilers during the beginning of spring semester. 

The delivery and installation process will require Stadium Drive East to be closed between Lincoln Drive North and Lucinda Avenue on Thursday, Jan. 9 and from Monday, Jan.13 through Friday, Jan. 17. Stadium Drive East will reopen to traffic once the installation is complete. The sidewalk along the road will also be closed during these periods.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to plan accordingly for disruptions to parking and transportation during this time.

 

Transact (OneCard) system maintenance scheduled.

A Transact OneCard System maintenance upgrade is scheduled for Jan. 6, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. While the system is under maintenance, students and faculty/staff will experience a disruption to OneCard uses for certain amenities on campus including printing, dining facilities, OneCard services and usage of Huskie Bucks. Below you will find additional information.

Sign up for the Spring 2025 Student Involvement Fair.

 We are excited to announce the dates for our 2025 Spring Involvement Fair. This two-day event takes place:

Day 1: Involvement Fair and Meet FSL — 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 I Ellington Ballroom, Holmes Student Center.
Day 2: Involvement Fair and Service Expo — 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23 I Ellington Ballroom, Holmes Student Center.

Sign-up Details:
Student Organizations: You are welcome to register for both days. However, if your organization is part of a Fraternity and Sorority Life Council (IFC, MGC, NPHC, or PHC), you may only register for Day 1 (Jan. 22).
Departments and Service Partners: You are invited to register for Day 2 (Jan. 23).

Registration Deadline:
The deadline to register for the Spring Involvement Fair is Monday, Jan. 15. Please use this form to sign up. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Alex Pitner, associate director for student organizations and leadership in Student Involvement.

Space is limited and is on a first come, first served basis.

Huskies United registration is closing January 10! Please fill out the form to ensure we capture your interest along with choosing a training session to attend week of January 13.

The day will kick off at 4:25 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2 continuing through April 3. This is your opportunity to unite around our mission and bring together the NIU Community whose grit and determination make NIU a place of growth, opportunity and excellence.

 

Alumni, faculty and staff volunteer week at the Huskie Food Pantry, Jan. 13-17.

Alumni, faculty, and staff volunteers are invited to help us address a fundamental need among students at an upcoming shift with the Huskie Food Pantry (HFP) during the first week of spring classes, January 13-17, 2025. Your volunteer participation highlights the genuine care of the NIU community and is a huge boost to our student volunteers and shoppers!

Deadlines

Financial Month End Close

The month of December 2024 closes all financial reporting activity at noon Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025. Journals not posted at that time will go into January 2025 business. Submit December journals before end of business Wednesday, Jan. 8. Final December reports are scheduled to be available Friday, Jan. 10. In addition, January reports are scheduled to be available Monday, Jan. 13. These dates, and other important dates related to the Controller’s Office can be found on the NIU Controller’s Office webpage.
