Huskies Vote is partnering with the DeKalb County Clerk's Office to offer Deputy Registrar Training on Monday, Sept. 15 — National Voter Registration Day, 10- 11 a.m., open to all eligible students, faculty, and staff on campus (Peters Campus Life Building 100).  

Eligibility: You must be registered to vote in DeKalb County and at least 18 years old. 

Not yet registered to vote in DeKalb County? You can do that during the Campus Meets Community event with the Clerk's Office, or register online ahead of the training. 

No other experience needed — the Clerk's Office team will walk you through everything. RSVP is required by Sept. 10.

NIU Institutional Communications will offer free environmental portraits to faculty and staff on Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of Altgeld Hall. Portraits will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. No appointment is necessary.

Wear professional attire that makes you feel comfortable and confident. Dress casually if your line of work calls for it, or feel free to dress more formally. Choose solid colors and avoid busy patterns, obvious brand names or other university names. For examples, you can check out some of our  faculty portraits in NIU’s Experts Guide.

A link to your photographs will be sent in 10 - 14 business days. We would also like to invite all faculty and staff to share your story with the NIU community. Please consider taking a moment to fill out a brief questionnaire to be a future Huskie Spotlight.

Join us for the Campus Meets Community Welcome Block Party presented by Heartland Bank and Trust. Over 65 local businesses and organizations from throughout the DeKalb area will join us for the party in the MLK Commons on Wednesday, Sept. 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to welcome NIU students, faculty and staff to the community. Come learn about area businesses, discover local resources, get coupons and samples, and find out about all the fun activities to do in the community.

There will be music, giveaways, a few samples, information about the community and — most importantly — a big, friendly DeKalb welcome to our students, staff and faculty. This event is free and open to the entire NIU campus. Don’t miss the chance to meet the community and find out about our great communiversity.

George Middlemist, vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer, recently announced several staff changes in the Finance and Administration Division.

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide leadership in carrying out all administrative functions of the Department of Psychology. The person in this position provides administrative supervision of the daily activities of the department and its staff.

Submit August journals before end of business Tuesday, Sept. 8. Final August reports are scheduled to be available Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026.
