Emergency Student Aid Fund
Each semester students are faced with personal or family emergencies such as the death of a family member or friend, a sudden illness, an accident, a job loss, or a host of other emergencies. Unfortunately, these situations can put a student's degree in jeopardy because they lack the funds—sometimes just a few hundred dollars—to remain enrolled. While students faced with emergencies plan to return to school, all too often, they do not.
NIU believes that every student deserves the opportunity to complete a degree. No one should have to leave school because of difficult or unexpected circumstances. Establishing the Emergency Student Aid Fund will help the Division of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management grant students a small, immediate scholarship to cover the unplanned expenses.
With your help, students will be able to turn to us in their time of need and, hopefully, prevent the difficult decision to leave school.
