At NIU, the Psychology Department is a vibrant and exciting atmosphere in which to develop and train as a student. NIU students can pursue a B.A. or a B.S. degree at the undergraduate level or can minor in Psychology.
Fields of Study
Study in Psychology at NIU is of the highest quality as we have over 30 full-time, Ph.D. faculty in the department, and offer courses within a variety of concentrations, including:
- clinical psychology
- cognitive and instructional psychology
- developmental psychology
- industrial/organizational psychology
- neuroscience and behavior
- school psychology
- social psychology
Advising Updates
- Beginning Fall 2004, students must have a grade of "C" or better in STAT 208, 301 or 350 in order to take PSYC 305.
- Beginning with the 2003-2004 catalog, Stat 208, 301 or 350 is a prerequisite for Psyc 305, but no longer a co-requisite.
- If you place your name on a waiting list in the main office for either Research Methods (Psyc 305) or a lab, you will be contacted at the end of the first week of school regarding your placement, if there is one.
