Interested in going to graduate school but need help with the process? GIGSS (Getting Into Graduate School Seminar) may be able to help you. GIGSS is a 7 week seminar dedicated to helping undergraduates in psychology prepare for the graduate school application process. It is free and you can receive individual feedback from a mentor. If you are seriously considering graduate school and are interested in attending the seminar, then come to the first meeting on Thursday, January 24th from 5-6:00PM in room 156.
Components of the seminar include but are not limited to:
How to decide what program is right for you
What experiences are crplanucial (e.g., research experience)
How to write a CV and a personal statement
How to prepare for the GRE and what to expect
How to request letters of recommendation
GIGSS will meet every other week from 5-6:00PM in room 156, on Jan 24, Feb 7, Feb 21, March 7, March 21, April 4, and April 18
Plan to attend all sessions if possible--it's a whole package!
Students can schedule individual feedback on work samples
Not a formal class, no enrollment fee or class credit, NO cost
The program is most beneficial to students planning on applying to Ph.D. programs; however, it is open to students applying to any psychology graduate degree program (e.g., M.A., Ph.D., Psy.D.)
