Emily Perkins
About Emily: I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Illinois State University in 2008. After graduation, I worked for a year for a company owned by AIG. I then obtained my Master’s in Business Administration from Bradley University in Peoria, IL. I entered law school here at NIU Law immediately after receiving my MBA.
Previous Legal and/or Professional Experience: I always wanted to be an attorney, so my legal experience began early. I started working at a local law firm when I was in high school, mostly doing data entry and filing. In college, I interned for a summer with Congressman Ray LaHood’s office in Peoria, where I was in responsible for responding to constituent comments. Before law school, I interned at Prairie State Legal Services, which was a great experience, because I was introduced to the legal profession by doing a variety of hands-on work. After my first year of law school, I clerked at a private firm in Peoria, which was a truly valuable learning experience. I am currently serving as a Graduate Assistant in the College of Business here at NIU.
What activities are you involved in? At NIU Law, I am an active member of the Student Bar Association, where I serve as a 2L representative. I am also a member of Delta Theta Phi, Women’s Law Caucus, and the Federalist Society. In my free time, I enjoy working out and watching Chicago Bears football.
