Cora Moy

Cora Moy

About Cora: I was on the debate team in high school, and found that law is a great way to combine a lot of my interests such as asylum seekers, public interest, medical and business law. In my free time I enjoy swimming, rock climbing, and ballet.

Previous Legal and/or Professional Experience: After graduation, I became the coordinator for a nonprofit organization that brings free legal services to Chicago Public Schools. At Chicago Law and Education Foundation, I set up the logistics for the schools and worked on the initiatives that they run.

Why did you choose NIU Law? I was advised by attorney friends to come to NIU Law and I’m glad I followed their advice. I feel a real sense of camaraderie at NIU Law and have had ample opportunities to meet with other students, professors, deans, and staff. Getting to meet professors outside the classroom at various events is great for me. I find the whole process less intimidating knowing the professors and faculty are open to my questions.

What activities do you want to be involved in? I plan on getting involved at NIU Law by participating in Trial Advocacy, Moot Court, and working toward getting on the NIU Law Review. I hope to use my J.D. to help my nonprofit continue to expand throughout Chicago.
