Lisa K. Woods teaches Legal Methods, Legal Writing and Advocacy I and II, and assists with the Academic Success Program. Before joining the faculty at NIU College of Law, she taught appellate advocacy as an adjunct professor at Loyola University School of Law and held the inaugural role of Pre-Law Advisor at Elmhurst University. Prior to her career in legal education, Professor Woods practiced law in the Chicago area at the local and state government levels. She began her legal career as a Staff Attorney at the Illinois Appellate Court, First District and later served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Evanston, Illinois, where she focused on municipal law. She is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. She is also a member of the Legal Writing Institute.
