The following teams provide a variety of legal services to the University administration and community.
Processes and manages records of division personnel, scheduling and records, accounting, purchasing and reconciling issues, maintains division Key Control Records, and administrative reporting. The Division Staff additionally coordinates Liquor License Applications Processing, Payroll Garnishments, Subpoenas and Third Party Requests for Employee or Student Records, Requests for Employee or Student Restitution.

Initiation and review of University contracts, agreements, University Press Contracts, intellectual property and publishing agreements.

Individuals filing claims against the University please submit a statement including the contact information, along with the nature and specific details of their claim to the Coordinator, Claims Management.

If you have received a letter from University Legal Services regarding your outstanding balance with the Bursar’s Office:
To inquire and resolve your balance please contact an Account Counselor at (815) 753-1885.
If you have a pending court date in connection with a past-due account, please contact us to discuss the status of your case.

Litigation involving representation of the University and its staff is managed by the University’s legal team.

The Office of General Counsel provides legal counsel to the Division of Police and Community Relations in understanding the legal requirements of the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety and Security Act. Along with the Compliance Division, the Office of General Counsel assists with the University's coordination of safety and security policies, procedures, and safety related initatives.
