Northern Illinois University’s School of Music and the Office of External Programs for the College of Visual and Performing Arts are pleased to present this year’s schedule of music clinics and festivals for high school jazz bands, choirs, women’s choirs, string orchestras, clarinetists, and individual jazz players. We hope you can join us this year in the NIU Music Building for at least one of these events.

The high school clinics are non-competitive and give directors and students the chance to share ideas with other musicians, with NIU faculty and students, and with guest clinicians. At Jazz Day, Choir Day, String Day, and Women’s Chorus Day, NIU ensembles perform for the students during the day. Each school ensemble performs on the stage of the Concert Hall and is critiqued by NIU faculty, and for certain events, by a guest clinician. Directors receive a recording of his or her ensemble’s performance.

Jazz Combo Day and Clarinet Cornucopia are for individual musicians.

Free registration for high school students at Clarinet Cornucopia!  A grant from the National Endowment for the Arts allowed us to offer high school students to attend the 2012 Clarinet Cornucopia for free. This will continue in 2013.

Registration deadline:
For high school clinics:
The deadline is one calendar month before the event; after that date, call to see if there is space. Events may fill prior to the deadline.

For festivals: Deadline information for festivals is on the information page for each event.

Early registration is recommended, as these events fill fast.
